What Is Your Body Telling You?
Have you ever stood in your kitchen, craving something sweet or salty, and wondered, “Why do I keep doing this?”
Maybe you promised yourself you wouldn’t reach for the cookies again. Maybe you are frustrated because you are eating better, trying to take care of yourself, and yet the cravings keep coming.
It is easy to see a craving as something you need to control.
But what if your body isn’t working against you? What if it is trying to get your attention?
Your Symptoms Are Not Random
Cravings are just one example of the many ways your body communicates with you. Others can include fatigue, bloating, brain fog, poor sleep, and afternoon energy crashes. Even the way you respond to certain foods.
These symptoms can be frustrating, especially when you have been told that everything looks normal. But a symptom is information. The question is not always, “How do I make this stop?”
Rather than looking for how to make the symptom stop, a better question could be “What is my body trying to tell me?” That small shift can change everything.
Instead of judging yourself for having cravings, you become curious about them.
Instead of immediately reaching for another pill, you begin looking for patterns.
Instead of assuming your body is failing you, you begin to consider that your body may be adapting to your environment. It is asking for your help.
So How Do You Find The Root Cause?
This is where things can get confusing. There isn’t always one single answer hiding underneath a symptom.
Your body is intricately connected.
- What you eat can affect digestion.
- Poor digestion can affect how you feel.
- Stress can change digestion and sleep.
- Poor sleep can affect energy and cravings.
- Ongoing stress can influence how your body uses and stores energy.
This is why chasing each symptom separately can leave you feeling like you are constantly putting out fires. You need to step back and look at the bigger picture.
The Heart Of My LISTEN Framework
L — Look for patterns & signals
What symptoms tend to show up together? When do they happen? What seems to make them better or worse?
I — Investigate root causes
What has changed? Stress? Sleep? Food? Digestion? Hormones? Illness? A major life event?
S — Support the foundations
Before adding another complicated protocol, are you giving your body the building blocks it needs—nourishing food, good digestion, restorative sleep, movement, hydration, and appropriate stress support?
T — Track your progress
Your body often gives you small clues before you see a dramatic change. More stable energy. Better sleep. Fewer cravings. A calmer digestive system. These would be signs of progress.
E — Empower through understanding
When you understand what may be influencing your symptoms, you can make decisions from a place of confidence instead of confusion.
N — Nourish for lifelong wellness
The goal isn’t another short-term fix. It’s creating sustainable habits that support your body over time.
Your Body May Be Asking You To Listen
You don’t have to ignore symptoms, and you don’t have to be afraid of it, either. You can become curious.
Your craving may be worth exploring. Your afternoon crash is worth noticing. Your bloating and the circumstances that preceded it is worth understanding.
Your body has been communicating with you all along. The goal isn’t to silence every message as quickly as possible. It’s to learn the language.
Because when you understand what your body is trying to tell you, you can stop fighting against yourself and start partnering with your body. That is where real healing can begin.
